Hi, hello! Happy New Year! I hope 2011 is treating you kindly so far!

I don't normally do this, but a few days ago, on a whim, I looked up Pantone's color forecast for this coming spring and found it too cheery to not share with you all today. Isn't it an uplifting, re-energizing palette? I know I can sure use a little of that now that the holidays have passed and left me in a chilly, worn-out fog.

I saw a lot of these colors while searching through the team's spring offerings. I have to ask, as artists/designers, how much do a season's projected trends influence your designs? Personally, I don't pay much attention (I'm not that organized!), and just do what feels right but I can certainly see the value of tapping into "what's hot."

I hope this has added some pep to your step! --katie :D

  4. Awe-some-ness Katie, what a FUNtastic Idea and Finds for a Post....YAY!! And to answer your question, I have never thought about color trends at all in my work, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to stare long and hard at the Pantone Color Swatches and try and incorporate a few of those Sublime tones into my Glaze Palette in the upcoming months..Thanks!!
Happy New Year to ALL...Full of Happiness, Health, Peace and lots of Prosperity in our Businesses!

  5. Oh Katie, this is absolutely stunning! I knew honeysuckle was one of the hot colors but not any of the others - which you've so beautifully illustrated!!

I've never paid much attention to trends either, but this year, with all these uplifting colors on the horizon, I just might. Yep. I just might. Thank you for putting a big smile on my face. Again. xoxo

  6. Katie - this is really great - thanks for a wonderful post. I try to follow them (Pantone's colors) now and then but I don't always gravitate to the ones they have out until it's time to move on to the next season of colors! Then, I'm not only hooked,...I'm outta luck finding beads in those colors! LOL!
